What is matt de la pena we were here?

Matt de la Peña is a critically acclaimed and award-winning author of young adult and children's literature. He was born and raised in San Diego, California, and received his Bachelor's degree in English from the University of the Pacific, and his MFA in Creative Writing from San Diego State University.

De la Peña is the author of several young adult novels, including "We Were Here," "Mexican WhiteBoy," and "Ball Don't Lie," which have all received critical acclaim and numerous awards. He is also the author of several children's picture books, such as "Last Stop on Market Street," which won the 2016 Newbery Medal, and "Carmela Full of Wishes," which was a 2019 Pura Belpré Illustrator Honor Book.

De la Peña's writing often explores themes of identity, race, and the struggles of everyday life, particularly for marginalized communities. His work is beloved by readers of all ages, and he is regarded as a pioneer in the field of diverse young adult literature.
